Tim McDuffie, P.E.VP of Engineering
Tim McDuffie is the VP of Engineering at CalCom Energy, overseeing all aspects of design and engineering for CalCom’s solar and energy storage projects. Tim leads the Design and Engineering team, working closely with Project Management and Field Operations to optimize design standards. He also oversees CalCom’s Interconnection and Asset Management teams and works with industry partners to streamline the utility interconnection process.
Tim is currently chairman of the California Storage and Solar Association (CALSSA) Smart Grid Committee. His knowledge in PV design and electricity standards has been invaluable to CalCom utility partners. His research on anti-islanding in locations with high levels of distributed energy resources has helped inform new standards for PG&E and other utilities as solar penetration grows.
Prior to joining CalCom, Tim was an Electrical Engineer with ConEdison Solutions out of Tampa, Florida, where he performed several commercial solar designs as well as energy efficiency projects for large companies and municipalities.
Tim has designed more than 100 PV projects totaling over 125MW spanning the past 10 years. Tim earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of South Florida in 2006 and is a licensed Electrical Engineer in ten states including California, Florida, Arizona and Colorado.
